Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. This protects against both UVA and UVB rays.
Sunscreen Type
Mineral sunscreens (containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) are generally preferred for Accutane users, as they’re less likely to irritate sensitive skin. Chemical sunscreens can be used, but always patch-test first. Look for fragrance-free and non-comedogenic options to minimize potential breakouts.
Application
Apply liberally 15-30 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply every two hours, or immediately after swimming or sweating. Don’t forget often-missed spots like your ears, neck, and the tops of your feet. A shot glass amount is a good guideline for full body coverage. Consider using a lip balm with at least SPF 30.
