Applying Terramycin Ophthalmic: Dosage and Administration

Always follow your doctor’s instructions. The typical dosage for Terramycin Ophthalmic ointment is a thin ribbon applied to the affected eye(s) three to four times daily.

For Terramycin Ophthalmic solution, instill one or two drops into the affected eye(s) every three to four hours, as directed by your physician.

Before application: Wash your hands thoroughly. Gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a pocket. Applying ointment: Squeeze a small amount of ointment into the pocket. Close your eye gently and roll it around to distribute the medication evenly. Applying solution: Hold the dropper above your eye, squeeze the appropriate number of drops into the pocket. Keep your eye closed for a minute or two. After application: Gently blot away any excess medication.

Important Notes:

Avoid touching the tip of the applicator to your eye or any surface to prevent contamination. If you are using both ointment and solution, apply the solution first, then wait at least 10-15 minutes before applying the ointment. Continue using the medication for the full course of treatment, even if your symptoms improve. Stopping early might lead to recurrence of the infection. Consult your doctor if your symptoms worsen or do not improve after a few days of treatment. Proper storage is vital. Store Terramycin Ophthalmic as directed on the label to maintain its effectiveness.
